I love that hybrid fitness offers the best of both worlds by combining strength and cardio into one workout. It’s quick, challenging, and always leaves me feeling accomplished. It has helped me become stronger, improve my endurance, and feel more capable both inside and outside of the gym.
Coaching allows me to be a part of something bigger than myself. I get to watch people try new things, build confidence, set personal records, make friends, sweat, do hard things, and have fun along the way. One of my favorite parts is pushing someone just a little farther than they thought they could go and watching them realize what they’re capable of. Seeing that confidence grow and watching them come back excited to do it again is incredibly rewarding.
I tried my first DEKA class almost a year ago, and it completely changed the way I looked at fitness. I had been stuck in the same routine and needed something different. I was nervous walking into that first class, but everyone was so welcoming and brought such great energy. The workout was hard, but I left feeling energized, accomplished, and proud of myself for finishing. Since then, DEKA has become a regular part of my routine. I love the encouragement, high energy, friendships, and sense of community that comes with both the classes and races. Everyone is working toward their own goals, but we’re doing the hard stuff together. I loved being a part of the DEKA community so much that I decided to become a coach!
Go to one class and give it a chance! What do you have to lose? You don’t have to be the strongest, fastest, or most experienced person in the room. Just show up, do what you can, and have fun. You might surprise yourself, and you might just find something you love!
