Cancer Awareness and Prevention Fundraiser at RAC

6 March, 2020

Each October you may notice an influx of the pink ribbon, sports teams wearing pink, the NFL changing some of their branding to pink, and other subtle hints that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

The Big C affects just about everyone — friends, family members, loved ones — but taking care of yourself can give you the extra awareness needed to fight back hard.

Here at Raintree, we believe that there is no specific month to be aware of your own health: it’s a daily lifestyle.  Whether that means exercising regularly, nutrition counseling to ensure you get your daily nutrients, or scheduling a mammogram every two years for preventative care, we advocate healthy living.

If you are looking for a way to get directly involved this month, consider joining us in our LesMills Cancer Awareness and Prevention Fundraiser on Tuesday, October 18th.  This two-hour event will be held from 5:30-7:30 in Studio 1 and will be a hybrid LesMills class including BodyAttack, BodyPump, BodyCombat, and CXWORX.

Entry is open to members and non-members, but we are asking for a $10 donation entry fee.  This event is held to support a local Fort Collins man’s fight against stage 4 brain cancer and half of the proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society and the other half towards easing his medical bills.

The two-hour class will be team taught by various LesMills instructors and attendance to the entire session is not necessary.  Bring a friend and sweat for a cause with us!

RAC would like to remind all of our members that we have specific group fitness classes to support those with illnesses that might limit exercise and movement — Alene Nitsky’s FIERCE class for those affected by cancer and several yoga options for those fighting Parkinson’s.
